THE Greens have today begun a campaign against Labor's plan to force older Australians to pay exorbitant fees for necessary care.
The environmentalist party that styles itself as left-wing has launched a petition to call on the government to go back on their decision.
Under new legislation passed by the Labor government, older Australians are set to soon pay over $50/hour for any care deemed "non-clinical" by the government, which includes many essential procedures.
This, the minor party states, is despite 1 in 3 larger corporations paying no tax to the government, something that would, if addressed, allow the government to fully fund aged care.
The Labor government has also capped home care places provided each year, leaving over 200,000 older Australians on waitlists, waiting for essential, required aid.
This move by the Greens is an attempt to arrest the shrinking poll numbers that face the party, who rely entirely on electoralism to make incremental improvements.
The current polling shows the Greens at 11%, which, if repeated at the 2028 election, would see them demoted to the fourth party in the nation, after even far-right outfit One Nation. This shows the pitfalls of relying so heavily on electoralism above all else as a method to achieve the goals of the left, and show that a more left-wing alternative is needed.
